Volg deze link om meer te lezen. Harry heeft een officiële klacht ingediend bij de Raad voor de Journalistiek tegen de uitzending van 7 december 2008, gemaakt en uitgezonden door Peter R. de Vries. Als contactpersoon van Harry is dat via mij gelopen en ik verwacht één dezer dagen over de post te horen te krijgen hoe de procedure verder zal verlopen. Let wel: de klacht in ingediend door Harry, het is niet uit mijn naam. Uiteraard steun ik hem hier wel in, en met mij nog meer mensen. May 20 Harry vertelt over zijn leven in de gevangenisVragen aan Harry Bout #1 How is life in prison? #2 Are there gangs? #3 What am I doing all day long? #4 What time do I eat and what do I eat? #5 Am I getting any visits? #6 Am I scared? #7 What are my fears and frustrations and how do I feel? As for how I feel, i feel such a despair there can be no human words to describe it. My life has literally been taken from me like a helpless kidnap victim, and the people who are supposed to protect me from this kind of horror, ( the police, prosecutors, and judges) they are the ones who have abused their official positions to commit this horrible unthinkable crime against me, while they claok themselves with the officialdom of justice to shield themselves from being exposed for the horrible crime they’ve actually done to me, while keeping me totally helpless to expose what they’ve done. And then to put the icing on the cake Peter R. de Vries comes along, leading me to believe he will help to expose these criminals, and instead he reiterates and perpetuates the lies and deception of those who have done this to me, while making me appear to be the bad guy.How do I feel? I feel so much sorrow like all the air has been taken from my lungs so I can’t breathe anymore. I feel so betrayed by that Peter R. de Vries that all I want to do is expose him for the liar that he is even if it doesn’t accomplish anything to get me out of this pit, I just want to expose how he abused his public trust by deceiving the Dutch public just to gain favor with the peolpe who did this to me. As far as I’m concerned Peter R. de Vries is just as much a criminal as the detectives, prosecutor, and Judge who knowingly framed me of this crime, to rob of my life, while allowing the American girl who did commit this crime to walk off free. How do I feel about this? Angry beyond what words can say. Betrayed by those who could help me, but choose not to expose what these criminals have done and to just join with those who have done this to me. Despair beyond comprehension, because I sit here already 24 years helpless to do anything to expose what they’ve done to me so I can get my life back. Despair because I will probably grow old and die in this pit of living hell and the truth of my innocence in the crime may never be known as time passes by. The more time that passes the greater the chances that the truth will never come out. After 24 years already past, I fear that I am doomed to die here. I can well imagine what Jesus must have felt emotionally when he cried out to God from the cross, why have you forsaken me. I have cried out to God like this so many times, but I am still here in this pit, this living nightmare that I cannot awaken from. My only temporary escape is to sleep, but when I wake-up, I wake-up back into this continuing living nightmare, which is real! There is no escape from this horror. Am I afraid ? Yeah, I’m afraid that thanks to Peter R. de Vries no one will care about what’s really happened to me, because they don’t know the truth. They only know the clever deceptive lies that were told and lead to believe. If not enough people care about whats really happened to me, the politicians will not care, and if the politicians don’t care, then the government will do nothing to help get my life back and I will be doomed to grow old and die in this pit. Yes, I am afraid. I am terrified of this, because I would rather be asleep, and dead, then to continue awakening into this living nightmare of hopelessness. Maybe my words are unpleasant and shoking, but I have to be honest and speak from my heart. I cannot pretend that all is well, when all is not well, and I’m suffering under the most horrible of circumstances being imprisoned in this horrible place for 24 years already, and for something I didn’t even do. Het verzoek tot strafomzetting van Harry is afgewezen. Dear Mr. Bout, The parole board has completed it's review of your self-initiated application for pardon or commutation of sentence, and forwarded it's determination to the Governor. Based on the parole board recommendation, the Governor has denied your application. Er wordt hem geen strafomzetting gegund, ook niet na 24 jaar cel. May 11 Laatste nieuws over HarryVanochtend heb ik bericht gekregen van Linda, de zus van Harry.
Van hogerhand is er het bericht gekomen dat er op 5 mei een gesprek plaats zou vinden wat betreft het verzoek tot strafomzetting.
We hebben nog geen antwoord gekregen maar het gaat er nu wel om spannen. May 05 nieuws van Harry. I also have some very important news: I spoke with Consul General Schiff this past wednesday the 22nd and he has some news: earlier this week Schiff had some email contact with the goveners legal counsel,and apperently she told him that they would be getting to my commutation application this week. After hearing this from Schiff I wrote Doug and asked him to please send you the message of this news via email. I guess this is good news, but, now I'm also scared of what the decision might be because my future or fate depend on this decision. As soon as I hear anything further I'll for sure to get word to you. We hebben nog niets gehoord.... April 27 nog steeds wachtende...Harry wacht nog steeds op de beslissing van de Parole Board. Maanden geleden heeft Harry een verzoek tot strafomzetting gedaan. Met een 'ja' is er nog steeds de mogelijkheid dat Harry aan Nederland uitgeleverd wordt. Het verzoek is naar de Parole Board gestuurd en deze zal een positief of negatief advies uitbrengen aan de gouverneur van Michigan. Het advies van de Parole Board is niet bindend, de gouverneur kan het advies naast haar neerleggen en een ander besluit nemen. Zo kan dus een positief advies ook nog altijd een 'nee' worden voor Harry. Toch is Harry nog redelijk optimistisch omdat velen waarvan het verzoek is afgewezen allang antwoord hebben gekregen. In dit geval is geen nieuws misschien wel goed nieuws. January 17 Jakkes !!Uit Harry's brief van vandaag:
Dear Sandra,
It's early morning time now while I start to write again. While sleeping in bed lastnight I had a little visitor about 4.20 AM, and again at 8.20 AM, it was a little mouse! The first time he crawled up inside of my undershirt and when that woke me up and I moved, he moved real fast even farther up my side into my armpit, and when he got there he rumbled around like going crazy but he couldn't get out so he immediately took off back the same way he came in and then took off down the bottom end of my bed and unto the floor. Then 4 hours later he woke me up again walking down my left arm and then when I shook my arm he quickly took off toward the top end of my bed and unto the floor. I don't know if it was the same mouse twice or if it was two different mices, but apparently this mouse has crazy courage to just walk on a sleeping person twice! Maybe he was cold and looking for a warm place to cuddle up and my side felt warm to him. I think this is the first time in my entire life that a mouse has ever crawled up into my clothing or even on me. I just don't understand it, because if he wants to be friendly with me why does he take off when I wake up and move, and if he doesn't want to be friendly with me then what is he doing walking on me, surely he must know that I'm a human being and that I'm alive and not just part of the bed for him to walk.......
January 12 reactie van ElvinHarry is nog heel erg bezig met de uitzending die Peter R. de Vries over hem gemaakt heeft.
Bijna dagelijks ontvang ik brieven van hem waarin hij schrijft dat hij de moord niet gepleegd heeft.
Ik geloof Harry en mijn support aan hem is niet veranderd.
Harry is dus nog heel erg bezig met de uitzending van 7 december 2008 terwijl we het er hier in Nederland niet meer over hebben.
Heel even is er een discussie geweest op het internet, dat duurde een dag of drie.
Ik heb vorige week nog heel even met Kees van der Spek heen en weer gemaild en we hebben gewoon ieder ons eigen idee over Harry.
Verder onderhoud ik natuurlijk nog contact met Elvin Shaver.
Dit is het antwoord wat Elvin mij vanochtend gaf op de visie die Peter en Kees hebben:

No, Kees is wrong. Harry did not kill Al, and I don't know why they got the idea Harry is a bad guy, because he isn't.
There's enough evidence to show it was 'her' that did it. You see, they never got a chance to talk to Evelyn because she was dead
 If the Judge would let the jury go to the house and see for them self that Evelyn did see Harry come up the stairs after the shots were fired.
Well, I'm sorry that they don't believe us, but they didn't from the beginning, and they tried to confuse me.

December 23 reactie van Harry en Linda op uitzending Peter R. de VriesIk heb Linda (zus van Harry) de dvd van het programma over Harry opgestuurd en Harry heeft via de telefoon de uitzending kunnen beluisteren.
Er zijn nogal wat reactie's gekomen op het feit dat zelfs mr. Beason (Harry's voormalige advocaat) gezegd zou hebben dat Harry schuldig zou zijn.

Harry has called me again, and asked that I write down the subtitles to what John Beason said, so I did. I need to let you know that what he said and what was written in the subtitles is incorrect... here is the what he actually said:
Peter: Do you consider this as a failure of justice?
Beason: No.
Peter: Ziet u het als een gerechtelijke dwaling?
Beason: Nee.
This was a portion of an interview with Beason, but it was added right after the interview with Prosecutor Klavins, to make it seem like Peter was asking this in relation to what Klavins was speaking about... very tricky.

Beason: I think that Harry got himself caught in a situation, in a case where all the ingredients are there. Sex. Drinking. And guns.

Beason: I couldn't get past the letters, I couldn't get past the body, I couldn't get past the concrete, I couldn't get past the bury, and I couldn't get past Dawn Bean. You add those up and you got a guilty. (Which means you got a guilty verdict, with all of that going up against you. He did not say Harry was guilty. He said in very poor grammar...you got a guilty.)

Beason: Tel dat allemaal bij elkaar op en hij is schuldig.
THIS IS NOT WHAT ATTORNEY BEASON SAID!! HE SAID:
"You add all those up and you got a guilty." As in, you get a guilty verdict when you have all that going against you. He was trying to say he tried his best, but with all that was against him in defending him, he got a guilty, instead of an innocent. Harry is not innocent of participating in all of this, but he is innocent of shooting Al.
THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
As far as Al's son stating that he was not there in the court in support of Harry, but to see that he did not get released... Harry said that H. R. told him that Al's son was there, and that he did not believe that Harry actually did this. I am thinking that maybe H. R. spoke with him (Al's son) and maybe he said he was in disbelief that Harry could do, or did do this. (because he was a very good friend of his father) I do not know how the conversation went, nor does Harry, but Harry said that this is what H. R. said to him about Al's son being there. Harry would have no way of knowing anything about Al's son unless someone else told him this. He could not talk to anyone, including Al's son, to get this kind of information. Harry was not LYING to get people to believe that Al's son was supporting him, he was simply repeating something that H. told him. It would be craziness to say his son supports him and doesn't believe he did this, if he REALLY didn't say it. It would make Harry look like an real idiot to say something that Al's son did not truly say. Like I said before, I think it depends on the context of what was being talked about and way that his son said anything to H. that day in the court.
I think that the translation regarding Attorney Beason was TOTALLY incorrect and that they should do something to rectify it. He did not say Harry was guilty. He said he (Beason) got a guilty verdict because of all the things he had to contend with in defending Harry.
I feel awful that the Dutch people who saw this think that Harry's own attorney said he was guilty. THAT IS NOT TRUE!!
What can we do about this?? Peter and his subtitle people either did this by accident or they did this purposefully to mislead their viewers of the program. Either way, it was a bad and wrong thing to have happened. This did no justice to Harry....it only hurt him.

Linda December 09 Mijn mening over de uitzending...Uitzending Peter R. de Vries over Harry Bout Waarschijnlijk zijn er best wel mensen die willen weten hoe ik tegen de aflevering aan kijk van Peter R. de Vries over Harry Bout. De mensen die ik nog niet aan de telefoon heb gehad…want die stond natuurlijk ook niet stil de dag erna. Laat me voorop stellen dat ik al wist dat de uitzending hier op uit zou draaien. Ik ben immers vorige week in Hilversum geweest om met Peter en Kees te praten. Tja… dat ze Varis Klavins (aanklager) interviewen en hem laten vertellen dat Harry schuldig is, is natuurlijk een inkoppertje. Die man zegt al 23 jaar dat Harry schuldig is en hij gaat echt niet vertellen dat hij 23 jaar geleden een verkeerde beslissing heeft genomen. Ook ik heb afgelopen zomer 4 uur lang met Butch in een park in de USA gesproken. Butch durft echt keihard te stellen dat de verkeerde achter de tralies zit. Dat hij zich nog steeds schuldig voelt over het auto-ongeluk waar de broer van Harry bij om het leven in gekomen is, is zeker waar. Peter gebruikt dit mooi om elke keer weer op te voeren . Maar als Butch wil vertellen over de terug weg, nadat ze de auto van Al naar het vliegveld hebben gereden, dan laat Peter Butch niet uitpraten en valt hij hem snel in de rede met: “je bent toch geen helderziende…je weet toch niet wat ze wilde gaan zeggen?” Het was namelijk zo dat Harry op de terugweg in de auto in slaap was gevallen. Butch vroeg toen aan Dawn: “Waarom heb je Al vermoord?” Dawn zegt: “Omdat….” Op dat moment wordt Harry wakker en vraagt de twee waar ze het over hebben. Butch en Dawn hebben het er dan niet meer over. Voor Peter dus een mooie kans om te zeggen: “je bent toch geen helderziende.” Mr. Beason is een advocaat van Harry geweest, maar zegt nu gewoon dat Harry schuldig is. Dat zal geen goede reclame zijn voor hem denk ik, maar dat is zijn probleem. Maar waarom wordt bijvoorbeeld niet Richard Holst geïnterviewd? Richard was Harry’s allereerste advocaat en die heeft hem voorgesteld het op ‘zelfverdediging’ te gooien, dan zou het allemaal wel meevallen. Richard heeft pen en papier naar binnen gesmokkeld en deze Richard heeft ook die brieven naar buiten gesmokkeld. Dat ontkent Richard uiteraard in alle toonaarden maar jaren later zal hij dit toegeven…voor Harry te laat. Richard blijkt ook al een stuk of 6x als advocaat geschorst te zijn geweest.
Waarom wordt er niet gesproken met Cecil McKinney ? Dawn heeft tegen Cecil gezegd dat zij Al heeft neergeschoten. Cecil heeft hier ook een ‘affidavit’ van op laten maken. Waarom praten ze niet met hem? Misschien omdat Cecil ook een strafblad heeft ? Maar dat heeft Butch ook… of omdat het niet in het straatje van Peter past? Ik vind dat Dawn er wel heel gemakkelijk van afkomt in de uitzending van Peter. Ze zegt niet te willen praten. Als ze het later nogmaals proberen belt ze direct de politie. Hier laat Peter het dan bij….terwijl hij juist in andere zaken zo volhoudend kan zijn en het dan op een andere manier probeert. Dawn is op dat moment 17 jaar en helpt mee een lijk te verbergen, zijn auto te verstoppen en ook Dawn houdt een maand lang haar mond dicht over dit alles. Ook Dawn belt de politie niet. Ze doet eigenlijk precies hetzelfde als Harry. Maar omdat Harry niet zo’n lief ventje was voor die tijd wordt er ook maar meteen aangenomen dat hij dus die moord wel gepleegd zal hebben? Ik heb geen nieuwe feiten gezien in de uitzending van Peter R. de Vries die mij overtuigen dat Harry schuldig is aan de moord op zijn vriend Al. Ik vind het ook pure onzin om te gaan zeggen dat dit zelfs een moord met voorbedachten rade was…ik denk echt niet dat Harry een vriend neerschiet in het huis van zijn moeder terwijl hij weet dat er ook nog een getuige (Evelyn Schneider) in dat huis aanwezig is. Dat Peter R. de Vries afsluit met de woorden “quilty as hell” vind ik dus erg kort door de bocht. Sandra
December 08 misdaadjournalistGeert-Jan Knoops is een van de sympathiekste en meest aimabele advocaten van Nederland, zeer scherpzinnig, hardwerkend, doorzettend en met grote successen op zijn naam (de Twee van Putten). Als er nog een top-tien gemaakt zou worden zou hij bovenaan staan. Als advocaat heb je je zaken misschien niet altijd helemaal voor het uitkiezen, je kunt soms ergens in betrokken raken waar je bij nader inzien beter niet aan had kunnen beginnen. De laatste tijd is hij vaak in het nieuws met zaken waar ik in elk geval geen goed gevoel bij heb. Gisteravond bij Peter R. de Vries, de zaak van Harry Bout. Iedereen die zich daarin verdiept ziet meteen dat die man helemaal fout is. Waarom zou je je als Nederlandse advocaat daarmee bemoeien? In Nederland had de man minder straf gekregen, dat is het enige waar je je eventueel wat druk over zou kunnen maken (als je verder echt helemaal niks te doen hebt). Die Bout doet mij denken aan die andere zaak waar we 't al vaker over hebben gehad: de moord op Pim Overzier, waar Henk H. voor is veroordeeld. Knoops probeert herziening te krijgen. Volgens mij is dit net zo'n inschattingsfout: Henk H. is ook zo'n manipulator die vanuit de gevangenis mensen voor zijn karretje weet te spannen. Deed hij ook al vóór het proces. Thrillerschrijver Jacob Vis meent dat de anonieme brieven die in deze affaire zijn opgedoken, een belangrijk ontlastend element vormen. Nou moet je ten eerste met anonieme brieven sowieso al erg uitkijken. Ten tweede: het is helemaal niet zo moeilijk zoiets vanuit de gevangenis te regelen. Ik ken een voorbeeld van een seriemoordenaar die erin slaagde een correspondentievriendin zover te krijgen dat ze sperma van hem naar buiten smokkelde, een verkrachting (met of zonder moord, dat staat me niet helemaal meer voor de geest) liet plegen - met hulp van een vriendje - en het meegesmokkelde sperma op het slachtoffer achterliet. Om aan te tonen dat hier sprake was van een gerechtelijke dwaling. Vandaag Knoops weer in de krant: over het spreekverbod van Ernest Louwes, in de Deventer Moordzaak. Justitie doet dat steeds vaker: spreekverbod als voorwaarde. Moet die veelgeprezen Harm Brouwer toch eens naar kijken: dat is pure angst, een zwaktebod. Waarom mag Louwes niet vertellen wat hem dwarszit? Maar je kunt wel constateren dat Knoops ook in deze zaak niet heel gelukkig is geweest. Kon hij niet veel aan doen, de dna-test was vernietigend, maar misschien had hij ook hier beter niet aan kunnen beginnen. Tja, en dan die andere affaire. Met Erik O. De beste man krijgt eindelijk zijn schadevergoeding en die zal hij best hebben verdiend, er zijn merkwaardige dingen gebeurd. Maar ik heb daar ook altijd het gevoel bij gehad (en niet alleen dat) dat er ook nog een andere waarheid is. Zou iemand over tien jaar nog eens een mooie documentaire over moeten maken met de mensen die het echt van dichtbij hebben meegemaakt, inclusief de slachtoffers (of hun nabestaanden). tien heel belangrijke puntenDit zijn de tien belangrijkste punten van Harry, graag wil ik ze hier noemen:
Fact # 1 : Al Iwuagwu had been missing more than a month, and I was the prime suspect because the police knew that I was the last person to be seen with Al alive because I picked him up from his home and never brought him home.
Fact # 2 : Elvin Shaver was the only witness the police had to lead them to the body of Al, and at that time he was the only witness to implicate me as the murderer.
Fact # 3 : Elvin Shaver has made sworn affidavits saying that the detectives and prosecutor forced him to lie and falsely implicate me as the murderer; Elvin even says in his affidavit that during his testimony at the trial he was about to say in open court that he was being forced to give false testimony against me and that the detectives physically removed him from the witness stand before he could say it, and the trial transcripts shows that this happened !
Fact # 4 : If Elvin Shaver is an incredible liar who cannot be believed than I have been convicted and condemned to mandatory life imprisonment with no possibility for parole, based on the testimony of an incredible liar !
Fact # 5 : The very date that I was arrested, the detectives interviewed the only eyewitness at the crime scene who was not involved in the commission of the crime ( Evelyn Schneider) and that witness told the detectives very clearly, that she seen me coming up the stairs to the second floor from the first floor, after she heard the first of three gunshots !
Fact # 6 : The detectives & prosecutor knew, on the very date that I was arrested, from their own forensic pathologist Dr. Stephen Cole, that Al had been shot at point-blank range three times, and that Al would have dropped instantly dead or unconscious, after the first gunshot wound.
Fact # 7 : The detectives & prosecutor knew, on the very date that I was arrested, from their own Crime Scene Technician Sandra Arens, that Al had been shot and killed in the bedroom immediately next to the bedroom of Evelyn Schneider on the second floor, where the blood stained carpet samples were taken from.
Fact # 8 : The detectives & prosecutor knew on the very date that I was arrested, from the only eyewitness at the crime scene, Evelyn Schneider, that it would have been physically impossible for me to have shot and killed Al in the bedroom while being on the stairs, because I cannot physically be in two places at the same time.
Fact # 9 : The detectives testified that it would have been physically impossible for witness Evelyn Schneider to have seen me coming up the stairs from inside of her bedroom; the detectives created and presented a diagram of the crime scene to support their testimonies.

September 04 de vragen die ik heb...Natuurlijk kan ik niet verwachten dat iedereen er, net als ik,al van overtuigd van is dat Harry de moord niet gepleegd heeft.
Maar het kan natuurlijk geen kwaad om eens over de volgende vragen na te denken voor meteen te gaan roepen dat 'iedereen in de gevangenis zegt dat hij onschuldig is'.
'waar rook is, is vuur' vind ik ook zo'n opmerking die al snel geplaatst wordt.
Toen ik bijna 4 jaar geleden met Harry in contact kwam heb ik niet meteen klakkeloos alles aangenomen.
Ik ben op zoek gegaan naar informatie over zijn zaak. In ben in gesprek gegaan met Harry maar ook met zijn familie in de USA en in Nederland.
In 2006 heb ik Harry voor de eerste keer bezocht en ik heb hem nu net weer negen keer bezocht in 3 weken tijd.
En nog steeds zit ik met een heleboel vragen...
* Waarom is het Harry in 1985 verboden om contact om te nemen met het Nederlandse Consulaat? Dit had hem niet geweigerd mogen worden.
* Doordat Harry geen contact op mocht nemen met het Consulaat kreeg hij een advocaat toegewezen.
* Deze advocaat, Richard Holst, spoort Harry aan om het op zelfverdediging te gooien. Richard smokkelt een pen
en papier mee naar binnen en later zal hij de geschreven brieven mee naar buiten smokkelen.
* Richard Holst zal dit later ontkennen en daardoor wordt Harry natuurlijk als leugenaar neergezet. Echter jaren
later (1992) komt boven water dat Richard gelogen heeft en geeft hij zelfs toe dit gedaan te hebben. Ook blijkt
dat deze Richard Holst wel minstens zes keer geschorst in geweest tijdens zijn werk als advocaat.Voor Harry is dit allemaal jaren te laat.
* Deze Richard die zich in het begin heeft voorgedaan als advocaat van Harry zal later tegen Harry getuigen.
* Waarom wordt er gelogen over het diagram wat er gemaakt is over de eerste verdieping van het huis.
* De agente die dit diagram gemaakt heeft zal later verklaren dat het diagram wat gebruikt is tijdens de rechtszaak niet het diagram is wat zij heeft ingeleverd. Ze kan echter niet uitleggen hoe dit kan.
* Waarom krijgt Dawn twee maal een leugen-detector-test? Harry wil dit graag maar krijgt het niet.
* Waarom krijgen Dawn en Elvin een 'deal' aangeboden?
(als Elvin Harry niet als schuldige aanwijst gaat hij zelf levenslang de gevangenis is...)
* Waarom wordt Elvin later in een gevangenis 250 mile verderop bezocht door twee rechercheurs uit deze zaak?
(Elvin heeft mij verteld dat ze hem opgezocht hebben om er zeker van te zijn dat hij zich aan 'zijn' verhaal zou houden)
* Waarom wordt Elvin tijdens zijn ondervraging in de rechtszaal naar de gang gebracht? Zogenaamd onder de
noemer dat hij medicatie nodig heeft. Maar later zal uit de papieren blijken dat Elvin helemaal geen medicijnen
gekregen heeft.
(Elvin vertelde mij dat men hem nogmaals vertelde dat hij zich aan 'zijn' verhaal moest houden, dit ging overigens niet erg zachtzinnig)
* Harry heeft geen motief. Waarom zou hij een vriend vermoorden in het huis van zijn moeder terwijl hij ook nog
weet dat er een getuige aanwezig is ?
* Ms. Schneider heeft een getuigenis afgelegd; Harry Bout kwam de trap op met een shotgun in zijn handen, nadat
het eerste schot was gevallen. Ze heeft hem zelf gezien. 'Al' is doodgeschoten met een .32 caliber.

Ik ben zaterdag 16 augustus teruggekomen van 3 weken Michigan.
In deze 3 weken heb ik Harry 9 x kunnen bezoeken.
In Ionia heeft Harry recht op 7 bezoeken per maand maar gelukkig kon ik ook nog 2 bezoekdagen van juli mee
pakken. Vandaar mijn 9 bezoeken.
De bezoeken waren van 15.30 uur tot 20.30 uur.
Op zondag mag hij bezoek hebben van 8.30 tot 20.30 ; maar vergeet niet dat je maar één toiletbezoek hebt tijdens deze uren, als je vaker wilt mag dat wel maar dan kost het je een bezoekdag.
Harry werd dus net voor mijn bezoek over geplaatst naar Ionia Maximum Correctional Facility.
Voor Linda (zus Harry) en mij was het dichterbij vergeleken met de gevangenis waar hij hiervoor zat.

En Harry heeft nu 7 bezoeken per maand ipv 5.
We hebben 9 geweldige bezoeken gehad.
Harry was zeer verbaasd dat hij verjaardagskaarten begon te krijgen van mensen die hij helemaal niet kent !
Hij begreep er helemaal niets van...
Ik heb hem toen natuurlijk moeten vertellen van de kaarten-actie.
Bij deze wil Harry dan ook heel erg graag iedereen bedanken die hem een kaart heeft gestuurd. Geweldig gewoon.
Het voelt zo ontzettend goed om te weten dat er mensen zijn die om je geven !

Ik zal wat foto's plaatsen die we gemaakt hebben in de gevangenis.
Het lijkt alsof we op een of ander onbewoond eiland staan maar we staan in de bezoekersruimte, voor een poster op een stuk karton...Maar natuurlijk is het mooi dat we foto's hebben kunnen maken. Ik ben met 1 koffer naar de USA gegaan maar met twee teruggekomen.
Linda en ik zijn naar Detroit gereden (2,5 uur) en hebben bij Mr. Lawrence (advocaat in de USA) 2 dozen met papieren opgehaald.
Allemaal originele stukken. Veel van die papieren heb ik mee terug genomen naar Nederland.
Verder heb ik een envelop vol met originele krantenknipsels mee teruggenomen en zelfs geluidsopnamen (2 CD's) van de zaak in 2004. We hebben toen geprobeerd de zaak heropend te krijgen wat toen helaas is afgewezen.
Verder hebben Linda en ik 25 banandozen vol met papier leeggehaald en nagelezen...van deze papieren heb ik ook spullen meegenomen.
Ik hoop dat ik met deze papieren wat kan bereiken...
Ik probeer zoveel mogelijk alles up-date te houden op deze Space.
July 30 vanuit Grand RapidsIk heb een goede reis gehad, alles verliep vlekkeloos.
Linda kwam net aan toen ik in Grand Rapids landde, we waren dus ook zo weer weg.
Het was 27 gr. om negen uur 's avonds...niet slecht !!
Maandag zijn we direct op bezoek gegaan bij Harry.
Hij zit in een relatief kleine gevangenis nu, rond de 280 gevangenen.
De bewakers zijn er veel relaxter, ook naar het bezoek toe.
Ons eerste bezoek duurde 5 uur, maar Harry miste hierdoor ook zijn avondeten.
Donderdag gaan we weer maar dan iets later zodat hij toch nog kan eten.

Hier laat ik het even bij, ik hoop over een paar dagen te kunnen melden hoe het met hem gaat.

July 16 laatste nieuwtjes...Even het laatste nieuws... Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken heeft op 2 april 2008 een brief gestuurd naar de Governeur van Michigan; Mrs. Jennifer Granholm. Deze brief is er gekomen om ons verzoek van strafomzetting te ondersteunen. Als Harry nl 'levenslang met de mogelijkheid vrij te komen' zou krijgen dan is er de mogelijkheid dat hij naar Nederland overgebracht kan worden. Dat kan niet met de straf die hij nu heeft. Goed, deze ondersteunende brief is dus verstuurd op 2 april en het duurde maar en het duurde maar. Geen bericht terug. Nou hadden we niet verwacht dat we direct antwoord zouden krijgen maar het is nu toch al half Juli. De Consul-Generaal in Chicago heeft contact gehad met het kantoor van Mrs. Granholm en gevraagd waarom er maar geen reactie kwam op de brief. En wat blijkt ? De brief is bij de verkeerde terecht gekomen, op het verkeerde bureau of op het verkeerde stapeltje, hoe je het maar noemen wilt....jaja! De brief is terecht en men heeft toegezegd zo snel mogelijk met een reactie te komen... tssss, sorry hoor, maar dit maakt me kwaad ! Verder is Harry gisteren overgeplaatst naar een ander level. De reden waarom is mij nog niet bekend.Hij is waarschijnlijk naar een lichter level overgeplaatst maar als dit level 2 is ben ik er niet geheel gerust op. Harry heeft eerder op level 2 gezeten en het werd het hem daar knap lastig gemaakt door bepaalde bewakers. Hij zat liever op een zwaarder level, uit de buurt van hen. Zodra ik meer weet hierover zal ik het melden. Als hij op dit nieuwe level blijft betekent dit ook dat hij andere bezoekdagen heeft. Die zullen nu op Zondag, Maandag, Woensdag en Vrijdag zijn. Dat betekent dat ik hem op Maandag 28 Juli weer zal zien, ik kom 27 Juli 's avonds aan in Grand Rapids. En.....het boek 'Families Behind Bars' geschreven door Kay Danes is te bestellen bij Bol.com !!! In dit boek is ook de zaak van Harry opgenomen. Ik heb 'm al besteld maar de levertijd is 2-3 weken. Ik hoop dat ik het kan zien voor ik naar Harry vlieg. June 22 harry heeft artritisGisteren weer een brief van Harry ontvangen.
Hij heeft de uitslag van de röntgenfoto meegestuurd.
Harry had de laatste tijd nogal wat last van tintelingen in armen en benen maar soms voelde het ook juist stijf en verdoofd.
Daarom is er op 28 mei een röntgenfoto gemaakt waar 9 juni dan het resultaat van bekend werd; Harry heeft artritis of anders genoemd 'gewrichtsontsteking'.
Voor zover ik weet zal hij hier niet verder voor behandeld worden, hij schrijft er in elk geval nu nog niets over.
Op het formulier staat ook: 'No change in treatment plan is necessary'.
June 21 Kom op...doe mee !!Ik heb onderstaand bericht ook op mijn hyves staan, ik wil zoveel mogelijk mensen oproepen om mee te doen !

Harry wordt dit jaar 50. Ongelofelijk als je bedenkt dat hij 26 jaar was toen hij de gevangenis in ging voor een moord die hij niet gepleegd heeft. Wat doen wij als we jarig zijn? En wat doen we als we 50 worden? Juist ja, dan komt er zo'n vervelende pop in de tuin, en een spandoek van 3x3 meter...  Bijzondere dagen zijn altijd zwaar als je in de gevangenis zit...de verjaardag van je kinderen, kerst, je eigen verjaardag, vaderdag/moederdag, het overlijden van een dierbare... Graag wil ik jullie allemaal oproepen om Harry een verjaardagskaart te sturen. Laten we hem een postzak vol kaarten bezorgen zodat hij een slinger van kaarten kan maken!!! June 20 laatste nieuwtjes...Zoals John van den Heuvel al in de Telegraaf schreef is er een verzoek van strafomzetting bij de governeur van Michigan ingediend. Op de vraag om ditzelfde verzoek ook bij President Bush in te dienen is gisteren een negatief antwoord gekomen. Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken heeft na intern overleg besloten eerst het antwoord van de governeur, Mrs. Jennifer Granholm af te wachten...
Maar hoe lang er nog gewacht gaat worden op dit antwoord werd er niet bijverteld, het verzoek is al 2,5 maand geleden verzonden.
Juist op dit moment is het zo belangrijk het verzoek wel bij President Bush in te dienen, daar hij over een paar maanden plaats zal maken voor zijn opvolger.
Ik heb Harry hier gisteren over geinformeerd en ik hoef zijn antwoord niet eens af te wachten, ik weet zijn reactie al...hij zal zeer teleurgesteld zijn. Hij zal zeggen dat Nederland weer eens een afwachtende houding aanneemt...en niet voor zijn burgers durft op te komen.
Eerlijk gezegd begrijp ik het ook niet helemaal. Waarom nou niet eens een keertje die vuist op tafel !
Met de bloeddruk van Harry gaat het gelukkig nu eens goed.
Na een lange tijd met een veel te hoge bloeddruk rondgelopen te hebben is het nu zelfs aan de lage kant.
Harry gebruikt medicatie maar probeert ook zo goed en zo gezond mogelijk te leven voor zover dit mogelijk is.
Zijn bloeddruk was bij de laatste controle ( 5 juni) 105/75 en bij een tweede controle was zijn bloeddruk zelfs 96/67.
Op 10 Juni heeft Harry zijn electrische scheerapparaat, zijn sokken en ondergoed ontvangen!
Dit na wat financiele hulp van Epafras, Inge en mijzelf.
Twee weken geleden heb ik nog eens 75 euro gestuurd in de hoop dat dit genoeg is voor nieuwe schoenen.
De schoenen waar hij nu op loopt vallen uit elkaar.
" I have not ordered the shoes yet because I don't want my account to be completely empty. I really do need new shoes. The leather upper has come apart on the sides where it connects to the sole. They are several years old. I've had these shoes since I was still in level 2 , and I've been here in level 4 about 3 years already".

Q. And Evelyn, we're talking about some incidents that happened at your home over on Broadway, N.W. in the not too distant past. And you had mentioned before we started talking on the tape that there was a party at your home some time or other-last month was it? Can you tell me about that?
A. Well, let's see, about a month ago I think.
Q. About a month ago. When would that have been? Who do you live on Broadway with?
A. This woman.
Q. And her name is ?

Q. But it was the same night that this party was going on. So you heard three gunshots. Were they close together or far apart? Do you know what I mean by that?
A. It seemed like it was pretty close, ya.

A. Now that I couldn't say.

A. No, there was one on the step..
Q. You heard a bang what sounded to be on the step..
A. Ya. Then I think they walked into the bedroom.

A. There's a room, it's like a living room, well then there's a bedroom, it was the bedroom, the bedroom right next to mine.
Q. Okay, and there's a door between your bedroom and that bedroom next to you.

Q. Okay, and it sounded like two shots in there?

Q. How long after that first shot?
A. Not very long, I don't know how many minutes or anything; it just sounded..

A. I don't know..it sounded like they came from the steps and went right in the bedroom.
Q. Okay, so it sounded like bang, people walking on the steps, going in the bedroom, and then bang, bang. how loud was this gun?
A. Pretty loud, I guess. I don't know, well...
Q. Have you ever heard a gunshot before?
A.Ya, I'll tell ya, well it isn't really, well I guess it is, once in a while, a gun used to be shot off there.
Q. Who did that?
A. Just to be silly.

A. Just to be silly like on the 4th of July and things like that.
Q. Oh, so people would shoot a gun?
A. Umm.hmm.
Q. Was there a gun kept in the house? What kind of gun was that?
A. I don't know, I don't know one gun..

A. There wasn't.

A. Not too much, I mean not like, well like you'd expect at a party, no.

Q. So the next thing, you're in bed, you go down, you're downstairs, you go to the bathroom, you see Harry and Butch, you go back to bed...
A... he said, Harry said Butch was gonna spend the night. I went back to bed..

A. I don't know, I don't have any idea.

A. I don't think it was that long, no.

A. I really don't know cause I was very upset, I wanted to go to sleep, and they were making all this noise, I was very upset.

Q. You see Harry on the stairs; do you see anybody else on the stairs?

Q. Okay, then a short time later you hear two more shots? is that correct?

Q. Do you hear any noise like somebody falling on the floor or anything like that?

A. Oh, another thing, there..I hear Harry's girlfriend in that bedroom.
Q. Okay, you heard her after the shots?
A. Is all..is all I heard was he said "are you alright Dawn"...Harry.
Q. Harry said that?

Q. "Are you alright Dawn?" This was after the shots?
A. Umm.hmm.
Q. All right, what happened next?
A. There was just a lot of going up and down stairs all evening, the rest of the evening, I don't know.
Q. All right, we think that somebody was shot next door in that other bedroom. Of course, you're aware of that right?
A. Ya.
Q. Did you hear anybody trying to clean the floor, or did you hear anybody like carrying somebody down the steps, or anything along that line?
A. I heard a lot of noise, that's all I heard.
Q. Like what kind of noise?
A. Well like they were moving something.
Q. You heard noises; well describe the noises to me.
A. Like something heavy. Well I'm seein all this from my bed.
Q. What do you see go by your door after the shots were fired?
A. They shut the door, I don't know.
Q. They shut the door then; do you know who shut the door?
A. I think it was Harry, I'm not sure.
Q. Why do you think it was Harry?
A. I just think it was, by the voice that's all.
Q. Okay, when's the next time you get out of bed?
A. I got out when they left.
Q. What time was that?
A. It was about 25 to 4:00.

A. I looked at my clock.
Q. Okay, what do you do when you get out of the bed?
A. I wanted to be sure everything, body was gone, I went downstairs and went to the bathroom and came back to bed.
Q. Did you notice anything unusual when you went downstairs?
A. There was a whiskey bottle on the table.
Q. Anything else?
A. I don't think so, no.
Q. Anything unusual in the bathroom?
A. No.
Q. Living room?
A. I don't believe so, no. I was very upset after all the..all what had gone all evening. I was very upset there so..I hadn't gotten any sleep. I was very upset.
Q. Where was the whiskey bottle downstairs?
A. On the dining room table.
Q. Is that unusual?
A. Ya.
Q. Was there any glasses?
A. I don't think so. I'm not real sure about that.
Q. All right, what do you do then? You go to the bathroom again?
A. Went back to bed.
Q. Went back to bed. How about the next day, anything unusual happen?
A. No.
Q. Did Harry come over?
A. Let's see..I can't remember..Maryann came home later on in the morning, or early afternoon.
Q. Did she stay long, or was she there to stay home then?
A. No, I think she went away again cause there was still some moving to be done.
Q. Did Harry come over?
A. I don't remember.
Q. Did Dawn come over? You don't remember?
A. No.
Q. When's the next time you see Harry, Dawn and Butch?
A. I don't remember.
Q. Was it..did you see them after that?
A. I can't remember when I seen Butch..
Q. You stated that you heard the next day from Harry that Butch's wife was there too.
A. Oh, that's right, then he had to be there, ya.
Q. Did he tell you not to say anything?
A. No, I haven't talked to him.
Q. The next day did he say not to say anything to the..
A. No, no.
Q. Are you afraid of anybody?
A. No. I don't like this, that's all.
Q. Well, we think, we can kind of see through you a little bit Evelyn, and we think you got some problems, you're afraid of something and we wanna be
A. I am not afraid of..I'm afraid of this, yes, I've never been in a police station.
Q. Did you ever see..did you ever see the body?
A. No, I didn't honestly. I never seen it.
Q. Did you hear about the body?
A. No.
Q. Did you know there was a body there?
A. No, not until last night till I saw what went on.
Q. Did anybody threaten you to..
A. No.
Q. Harry?
A. No.
Q. Are you sure?
A. Yes.
Q. Harry never said anything to you about what happened like don't say anything to anybody?
A. No.
Q. Why did he tell you that Butch's wife was there? How did that come up?
A. About the party.
Q. I beg you pardon?
A. About the party bein there.
Q. Well what did he say about the party? He talked to you about it?
A. He just said that she was there; that's all I know.
Q. Well, you know that because you saw him when you went to the bathroom, the first time.
A. I didn't see his wife, no.
Q. You saw Harry though?
A. Yes.
Q. Oh, I see. Did Harry come over there..who was Harry with the next day?
A. I don't even remember, I don't remember all this, I was in bed.
Q. No, not the next day you weren't.
A. What?
Q. Was Butch there the next day?
A. I don't think so.
Q. All right, let me ask you this, did you..are you home a lot?
A. Me? Ya.
Q. Did you leave the house, or did you leave the house for..I mean, you must go to the store or something..
A. Ya.
Q. Did you go to the store the next day, or did anybody ask you to leave the house? Do you remember Harry..
A. I went out of the house but that was my own free will.
Q. Did Harry ask you to leave at any time?
A. No.
Q. Tell you to go to a movie or go to the store? Did he take you anyplace?
A. No.
Q. Huh?
A. No.
Q. Well, you kind of..
A. I am very, this is getting to be very nerve wracking.
Q. All right, we're almost finished now. Ma'am, I'm just a little concerned about maybe that you were threatened by Harry.
A. No, I wasn't.
Q. Harry is locked up right now..
A. I know..
Q And it's not likely he's going to be walking around free..Harry's locked up, Dawn is locked up, and Butch is locked up.
A. Nobody threatened me.
Q. Maybe not threatened, but might of told you to just forget about this.
A. No, no.
Q. Did anybody bring some cement to your house?
A. No, not that I know of.
Q. Well, you would know if you're home most of the time.
A. Well, a lot of times I go out, but not that I know of. I didn't, I don't, like I said, I was in bed, I don't know anything about all of this.
Q. Well, the next day..the next day..
A. No.
Q. Nothing? Did you ever talk about this problem, this noise and all this business with Marion?
A. Mary ann? Ya, I was almost hysterical when she came home. I have always been afraid of a gun, and before I worked at the Salvation Army I took, babysat some kids. And they had a gun in the house, and the grandmother always said you don't have to worry, that thing's never loaded. And I was always worried about. Well, three weeks after I quit babysitting, the man downstairs shot the one upstairs, so since then I am petrified of guns.
Q. What did you tell Mrs. Schutt about what happened that night?
A. I said that some shots went off.
Q. What'd she say?
A. And that there was a party or something going on there.
Q. What did she say?
A. To calm down.
Q. Did you ever talk about it again to her after that.
A. No.
Q. How about anybody else? Did you ever talk to Harry about it?
A. No.
Q. Dawn?
A. No.
Q. Butch, anybody else?
A. No, I don't think so.
Q. I mean, if you're that afraid of guns I would think you would tell more than one person about it.
A. My boyfriend.
Q. You told your boyfriend about it? What's his name?
A. Oh, you're not gonna get him in here too are you?
Q. Probably.
A. Oh,no!
Q. What's his name?
A. Please don't.

A. He don't know anything about it.
Q Where does Mr. G live?
A. Salvation Army.
Q. He stays there?
A. Yes.
Q. How old of a man is he?
A. About 41 or 42.

Q. What'd you tell him about it?
A. I think that Saturday when I saw him because I was very upset.
Q. So this is how many days later?
A. A couple I think, it was on Saturday.
Q. Okay, and you think the party was on a Thursday night?
A. I think.
Q. Just before that. Do you remember what the weather was like that night?
A. No.
Q. Don't worry about it okay, everything will be all right.
A. Will I have to come back?
Q. Maybe.
A. Oh, no.
Q. I can understand Evelyn why you might have a hard time talking about this because I see that you're kind of in a bind cause you're living there and you've probably been dependant on your friends there. And now your friends have gotten in a lot of trouble or the son of your friend. I just wanna make sure that there were no threats made against you.
A. There wasn't.
Q. He didn't ..okay, did he ever tell you to just forget what you heard or saw?
A. No.
Q. How could he be assured that you wouldn't talk?
A. I don't know.
Q. It's hard for me to believe that he'd just assume you wouldn't say anything.
A. Oh, about the party, I told him about..I told his mother about the party, but that..
Q. What did..
A. I told him I was gonna tell her about the party, but that is all.
Q. When did you tell him that? Well, if she came over the next day then Harry must have been there that morning or something?
A. She came around noon.
Q. Okay, do you remember what day that was?
A. Friday I think, I don't know.
Q. Friday, okay, so she comes home about noon, so Harry was there before that?
A. No.
Q. Early in the day?
A. No.
Q. Well see, I'm confused because if you said that Harry, you were gonna, you had to talk to Harry to tell his mother, correct?
A. What?
Q. About the party.
A. Oh.
Q. So you had to talk to Harry before you talked to Harry's mother.
A. I don't know, I'm very upset..Please don't call me in here again, please.
Q. Well, I can't guarantee that Evelyn, I'm sorry. I just feel that you did talk to Harry about this and that there's more, a little more to it that you talked to Harry about the next morning.
A. I don't..I don't think he, I know he wasn't over there the next morning.
Q. Well, you've already told me two different statements that Harry said to you, one about Butch's wife and the other one about you were going to tell his mother..
A. But, I don't remember when.
Q. When you said it to him? You told him, before you told Mrs. Schutt that you were gonna tell, right? So it had to be that morning.
A. I don't know.
